Join the club!

To join Newcastle Surf Life Saving Club, just visit us on a Sunday morning between 9am and 12pm during summer. Alternatively you can contact us via email or phone. Newcastle Beach is located just south of the Newcastle Baths on Shortland Esplanade (opposite Noah’s on the Beach). Our clubhouse is directly behind the lifeguard tower tucked in under the road.

There are no shortage of things to do in the club, no matter your age or skill level there is something for you. Some of the main activities in the club are outlined below.


Junior Activities

Junior Activities members (nippers) learn surf survival skills with an emphasis on fun. Please use our contact form for more information.All new nippers must be at least 5 years old on the 1st of October and provide proof of date of birth documents on rego days.

The nipper program for the 2010/2009 season has now finished. Please enter your details in the box below if you are interested in the nipper program so we can notify you of the rego dates and when the season starts.


Bronze Medallion / Surf Rescue Certificate

Members aged 15 and over will train for their Bronze Medallion. This course takes about 8 weeks and teaches surf skills, resuscitation, rescue techniques and more, it is the entry level course for those looking to become involved in the club.

Members aged 13 & 14 will complete their Surf Rescue Certificate which is a basic version of the Bronze Medallion. Upon completion of these courses members will undertake surf patrols.

The club holds an information session twice a season for people who may be interested in doing their Bronze Medallion or Surf Rescue Certificate. Upcoming information session dates will be posted on this page and also the club calendar.

Activities

The club runs a number of activities including fitness training, board & swim training, competitions, beach patrols and social functions. Members have access to club facilities including showers and can become a member of the gymnasium at additional cost, people wishing to engage in these activities must be current members.
